Ange Postecoglou wouldn’t commit to Ryan Christie making it back in time for Celtic’s pivotal tie against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening.
The first leg of the pivotal Europa League play-off will take place in the East End of Glasgow midweek and after Ryan pulled up in training over the weekend, the Celtic boss is reluctant to say if he’ll make the Europa squad.
Speaking to RecordSport, the Hoops gaffer revealed there’s a chance the Scottish international will be available but it’s touch and go, there was better news on Liel Abada:
“I hope Ryan’s going to be okay. He was a bit sore on Saturday and right now we’re not sure how he’ll be.
“Abada should be fine. He was really close to making it, but we didn’t want to risk him as we’re going to need his energy on Wednesday night.
“If you look at our goals, we’re getting them from a few players. And if we play the football we can play then whoever plays in that front three will get goals. We don’t just rely on one player, the goals are shared.”
Celtic warmed up for the Europa League tie by winning 3-2 against Hearts on Sunday afternoon. Celtic fans witnessed some breathtaking attacking football but they also saw the bhoys make some needless defensive lapses.
We will have to be much better at the back if we’re to take a lead to the Netherlands next week. The gauntlet has been thrown down to the players and they must rise to the occasion.
