Rumour: Celtic Linked to Goalkeeper; Club Willing to Sell

CELTIC have been linked to the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper, Nikita Haikin. The Russian will be allowed to leave the Norwegian side if the club’s valuation of £500,000 is met.

Haikin has played against Celtic this season. An impressive performance at Celtic Park meant that his side would carry an advantage to their home country for the second leg. But, after he was booked during the first leg, the goalie missed the return match due to suspension.

Football Insider is reporting the interest. The source isn’t always the most reliable but has been spot on with some stories in the past. The outlet also says that Wolves are interested in the keeper.

This season, Joe Hart has been impressive between the stick and hasn’t done anything to deserve to be dropped. Celtic might be looking to the future and sorting out a replacement for the Englishman. Haikin is 26-years old, meaning is he just reaching the peak of his career. It would be an intelligent move with Hart ageing rather than holding off and making a panic buy.

Celtic’s interest does not convince us at the moment, but we’ll see how it develops.
