Celtic completed the signing of Oliver Abildgaard on deadline day from Rubin Kazan. The player is only pencilled in for a year at the Hoops where we assumed it’s a loan deal.
We reported earlier on Friday the term Celtic we’re keen to use was ‘season long deal’, not ‘season long loan deal’. There is a clear distinction and if you want to read about it our morning update will fill you in.
However, to muddy the waters further for people who are confused as to what the deal is; Rubin Kazan has labelled the deadline day move as a loan deal. The club has told their supporters it’s a straight up loan move.

Celtic were careful not to use the term loan. What we do know, Oliver is a Celtic player for this season. Beyond that, the club can look to make the deal permanent or there could be further guidance from FIFA on foreign players who are contracted to Russian clubs.
Celtic signed nine players this summer. The Ange Postecoglou overhaul has gone very well to this point, there have been more hits than misses for sure. Fingers crossed Oliver can make an impact like many others the Celtic gaffer has brought to the club.
