According to reports, Roy Keane has told close friends he believes he’s missed out on the Celtic job this time around.
Keane was one of a number of names who were linked with the club over the past two months. However, since the Easter weekend, the rumours surrounding an Eddie Howe appointment have not gone away.
SunSport report the Irishman has told close friends he’s not in line for the Celtic job, seven years after turning the position down.
According to CeltsAreHere sources, Celtic did have conversations with Keane about the vacant position but nothing serious came of it. SunSport also confirm this to be the case.
Desmond famously told Peter Lawwell to sort out a deal for Keane to take on the role back in 2014 but the Chief exec turned Keane off the position at the time; the chief exec confirming he would be picking Roy’s assistant and his contract offered was not negotiable.
This all came out in Roy Keane’a book.
Football has marched on since then and Celtic fans want to see a progressive, young and hungry manager get the job for the most part.
Eddie Howe is still very much in the picture.
