Ronny Deila’s Lost Treble – Get Over it

The hilarity of the absolute venom coming from the usual places in Scottish football this morning as they chant Celtic only won the cup due to a dodgy decision will not be lost on former Celtic manager Ronny Deila.

Having bagged the League Cup and the League it was down to a semi-final with ICT where the Norweigan was looking to make his own bit of history when calamity struck.

Josh Meekings blatantly handballed a Leigh Griffiths header to deny the Celtic striker that would have put Celtic 2-0 up on the day. The referee that day, Stevie McClean waved it off like nothing had happened. After that Celtic got a sending off and then ICT went on to win the game.

Speaking a couple of months back Ronny Deila says it still haunts him.

“That referee’s non-decision in the semi-final when the ball is punched off the line and then we get a red card and lose, it still hurts me now.

The same people spouting venom about yesterday are the same ones who told Celtic fans and Ronny Deila to ‘get over it’ back in 2015.

It was a very soft penalty and it gives Motherwell smoke and mirrors to detract from their ridiculously mediocre performance on the big stage. Having spoke for weeks about not believing the Celtic hype, penalty or no penalty, the only way Motherwell were leaving Hampden with a cup is if they stole one from the tea room.

So to the class of 2015 ‘get over it brigade’ I hope you will afford me the same opportunity now to say the same.
