CELTIC FANS are a bit on edge this evening after Brendan Rodgers commented on Kieran Tierney’s immediate future.
The worry stems from Rodgers not fully throwing out the claim that an Everton bid could see the player leave
The Irishman refused to rule out the possibility of a massive bid coming in and being accepted for the Celtic superstar.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Brendan Rodgers spoke directly and honestly.
“It will be down to the club in the end. If an astronomical fee comes in for a player and he has wages to match that, the transfer window can dictate he may have to go.
“Of course we would love and we want to keep our players. Ideally they wouldn’t go but I can never say realistically that everyone will definitely stay because the club may get an offer they can’t refuse.
“In terms of development it’s great for Kieran. He’s happy and loves being at Celtic.
On whether Kieran himself would want to move on, Rodgers said there would be benefits but was unsure if Kieran could pry himself away from the club.
“That is always going to be the difficult one for Kieran because he genuinely is Celtic-daft.
“You see his passion and love but football is a harsh business. That’s what it is.
“It’s a business where the career is very short and if he can go and earn four or five times the money he’s on at Celtic then who am I to say not to do it?”
Our Verdict.
Kieran has signed a six-year deal with the club not too long ago and as a Celtic daft player he seems more enthusiastic than ever about helping Celtic to a potential ten in a row.
It would have to be something absolutely special to take him away from Celtic and while a club like Everton can beef up his bank account – Kieran could help Celtic win the ten and still have plenty of time to quadruple his wages in the future.
Don’t underestimate the love Kieran has for the club.
