Rodgers Reveals Unwell Celtic Midfielder

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley was unwell all week despite playing the full game against Livingston this afternoon.

O’Riley, who rarely misses games for Celtic, managed to get over the illness, and with Rodgers not making much of the fact before the game, it shows the high standards that the Danish midfielder expects from himself.

Rodgers said: (The Herald), “The players deserve credit for that, some of them haven’t played a lot.

“Matt O’Riley wasn’t well all week, Stephen Welsh came in at the last minute, Nicolas (Kuhn) coming in after not featuring. There was a little bit of disruption there, but the guys got the job done in the end.”

O’Riley may not have been at his best against Livingston, being at fault for David Martindale’s side’s second goal, losing the ball to Tete Yengi.

However, he is undoubtedly one of the most consistent players in the squad and can be excused for the occasional poor performance, particularly when he has been suffering from an illness all week.
