Rodgers Responds to Rumours Linking CCV with Bayer Leverkusen Move

Brendan Rodgers has reacted to rumours of a Cameron Carter-Vickers move to Bayer Leverkusen.

With reports breaking on Friday that the Bundesliga champions were interested in CCV, Xabi Alonso’s side were said to be interested in a move.

However, they have not made any formal approach to Celtic, with Rodgers quick to reveal where he stands on the transfer.

He said: (The Celtic Way),  “Listen, I haven’t seen anything of that, to be honest. I suspect there will be interest in all our players and lots of gossip and speculation going about. But no, I think our idea is to improve our squad.”

It’s a defining message from Rodgers to the Celtic board and supporters: he wants the team to get stronger, not weaker.

So, if in the unlikely event CCV were to leave, it would need to be for the right price.

However, given how vital the USA international has proven to be during his time at the club, he is undoubtedly irreplaceable.

CCV has proven to be one of the best centre-backs the Hoops have seen over the last 20 years.

He rarely puts a foot wrong, with the only aspect of his game that he somewhat struggles with injuries.

However, this is mainly due to his winning mentality of playing through pain and putting his body on the line to stop goals.
