Celtic lost out by two goals to one in Ayrshire on Sunday afternoon. The hosts came from behind to earn a deserved victory against a woeful Hoops team.
Throughout the match, the rain was teaming down. This was in no way detrimental to the champions, claims manager Brendan Rodgers. Indeed post-match, he failed to criticise the plastic pitch. He said (Glasgow Times): “I thought the pitch was all right for an AstroTurf surface. When you get rain, it makes it slick, and it was actually good, but in the British game you have to have that adaptability.”

Today, the Celts didn’t have any sort of adaptability. In the second half, they seemed to stand off Kilmarnock and let them dictate play.
There were many concerning signs today, but it is encouraging the pitch wasn’t used as an excuse. Instead, particularly in the first half, it aided the champions in their quick, dominative play that only seemed to exist for 45 minutes.
