Rodgers Raves About McCowan’s Brilliant First Celtic Goal

Celtic midfielder Luke McCowan marked his second appearance for the Hoops with a goal, signalling that he will prove his doubters wrong.

At 26 years old, McCowan is somewhat of a late bloomer.

However, the Scottish midfielder has already shown signs of being a potential surprise package for Celtic this season.

His outstanding performances for Dundee earned him a move to the Scottish Premiership champions in the summer transfer window, on deadline day.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was delighted for McCowan post-match that he managed to grab his first goal at Celtic Park this afternoon.

He said: (BBC Scotland), “It’s still very early for all the new players coming in. It’s never going to be easy. Luke’s come in and to get that moment to be a Celtic supporter and get a goal at Celtic Park, what a special moment for him and his family.”

McCowan has that special X-factor that many midfielders lack, and his goal off the bench raises questions for Rodgers about whether to start him in midweek against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League.

It’s a dilemma the Irishman will welcome, as it comes after a busy summer transfer window that has provided him with greater options and squad depth.
