Brendan Rodgers spoke candidly last night from Celtic’s pre-season base in Austria and was asked about The Rangers Chairman’s derogatory comments towards the club.
In a calm measured approach by the Celtic manager, he explained why Dave King’s comments not only serve to talk down the Scottish game but pile pressure on their own player and manager.
“I don’t need Dave King to motivate me or my players. Our motivation is for Celtic.” said the Irishman
“I say to the players if you want to be a champion and be in that gold box you have to walk the walk.
“You make your noise on the field. You respect your opponent always, you respect the traditions of the club, but you look after your own club and yourself.”
“They will know that finishing 39 points behind, losing in five of the six games, the work they have to do to get better. But my focus is on us and how we can get better.”
