Celtic Manager Unimpressed by Late Win

Brendan Rodgers didn’t mince his words after Celtic finally broke down a stubborn Alloa side at Celtic Park last night.

The Irishman watched his side squander a multitude of chances before James Forrest hitting the back of the net late on. A sensational solo goal from Moussa Dembele  wrapped the tie up in a bow but the Celtic manager was in reflective mood.

“I wasn’t pleased at half-time,” Rodgers said. “We have to be more clinical than that.

“We had 13 shots on target and probably another 13 which weren’t on target so to score only the two goals was disappointing. You have to be more ruthless than that.

“The name of the game was being patient but we needed to be much better. Credit to Alloa to come here and defend the way they did and play the way they did was fantastic.”

Celtic now find themselves in the Semi-final of the League cup with the final being contested in November it will be the clubs first chance of silverware this season. The draw will be made tonight after the Aberdeen vs St Johnstone game. Morton, The Rangers and Celtic await them in the draw.
