Rodgers Hints at Celtic Deal That’s on the Table

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull scored a wonderful goal midweek that opened the scoring for the Bhoys against St. Mirren. It was a powerful, swerving effort from the midfielder who has been on the fringes of the squad this season.

Manager Brendan Rodgers, though, has confirmed the ball is in the player’s court over a contract extension. Turnbull has less than a year left on his deal, and the Parkhead gaffer said (Daily Record): “David is a player we would like to keep, so it is not us here on the club side. He has to do what he thinks is right for himself. At this moment of time, he is still in the last year of his contract.”

It seems as though it is now up to Turnbull to decide whether he is going to extend his future at Celtic or not. Many players have been handed new deals since Rodgers took the reigns, and the Scotland internationalist could be next in line to get one.

A homegrown player who has undoubted talent and can contribute greatly in games the ilk of Wednesday’s, Turnbull is useful to have and he provides a different dynamic to any other midfielder in the Hoops’ team. His situation will be one we keep a close eye on over the coming days and weeks.
