Rodgers revealed that planning for the January window is already well underway, with scouts under the leadership of Head of Football Operations Paul Tisdale actively assessing potential targets.

While the summer window brought notable additions such as Arne Engels and Adam Idah, Rodgers sees January as another chance to bolster the squad, particularly with the demands of domestic and European football.

The Celtic boss stressed the importance of refining the squad to sustain their high standards:

“We’re definitely looking,” Rodgers said on Celtic TV. “There are still areas that I would like to improve in the squad. Absolutely no question about that. We can’t do everything in the summer one.

“We’ve done a lot of great work there. But there’s definitely one or two areas just to, again, give that freshness to the squad as well and give that quality. So, it’s important that we keep building.

“All the players will learn, develop, they’ll get better. But you need to always provide competition and that’s something I’ll always look at.”

Celtic’s summer business laid the groundwork for their impressive start to the season. Key acquisitions such as Engels and Idah have already made significant contributions, while Alex Valle’s loan move has added depth at left-back, increasing competition for Greg Taylor.

But the left-backs don’t seem to have a long term future at Celtic, with the Spaniards loan ending in the summer and the Scottish internationalist’s contract expiring.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that a left winger and a young, third choice striker are on Brendan Rodgers’ shopping list.

Fans will be hoping for a better winter window than last.
