Rodgers Flop Glosses Over Failure After Parkhead Exit

Jeremy Toljan’s loan move to Celtic can hardly be described as a success but try telling that to the right back who believes he can get a game for Dortmund next term off the back of his loan stint at Celtic Park.

The defender came in under Brendan Rodgers with the idea of replacing a worn out and tired looking Mikael Lustig but it quickly became apparent that wasn’t going to happen.

With Rodgers off, Neil Lennon came in and put all Rodgers loan bhoys on the bench – bringing a dropped Lustig back into the fold.

Neil didn’t rate Jeremy that much he played a guy who he told his former Hibs side to target during matches between the Easter Road club and Celtic.

Jeremy might thrive in other leagues but the SPFL just wasn’t for him.

On his way out the defender has put some gloss on his time at the club and you can’t blame him for doing so as he returns to Germany in the hope of making his mark.

“I’m looking forward to playing for Dortmund next season. You never know what will happen in football, but my plan is definitely to stay with Borussia Dortmund.” he told RecordSport.

“I had a great time at Celtic. At the weekend we completed our season by winning the Scottish Cup Final to make it a treble.

“It was a great experience and due to my time in Scotland I have returned a better player and I also have winners’ medals from the league and the cup.

“Now I want to try and make the same impact with Dortmund.”

The player made 12 appearances for the bhoys spanning 798 minutes over three competitions.
