Rodgers Drops Transfer Hint After Celtic’s Pittodrie Statement Win

Brendan Rodgers has addressed the lack of marquee signings this summer while praising the application of his current Celtic squad after their 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The Irishman acknowledged the need for further additions, particularly in attacking areas, before the transfer window closes. However, he stressed his belief in the quality and commitment of the players already at his disposal.

Rodgers’ side have now taken maximum points from their opening two league fixtures, with new signings Benjamin Nygren and Kieran Tierney both playing key roles in the win over the Dons.

While transfer speculation continues, Rodgers made it clear he will focus on improving the team with or without new arrivals in the coming weeks.

He said: (Sky Sports), “Our job between now and the end of the window is to make Celtic the very best we possibly can.

“Of course I want us signing more players at the top end of the pitch, but if they’re not there we’ll work with the players we have and make them the very best they can be.

“We know where we need to strengthen… in the meantime the players here are working very, very well.”

Rodgers’ comments show he is taking a sensible approach, aiming to add quality in the transfer market while trusting the players who have started the season strongly.

Nygren’s standout performance and Hatate’s brilliant second goal at Pittodrie highlighted the quality already in the team.

Rodgers’ focus on improving players also hints that some of the younger squad members could see more game time if big-name signings don’t come in.

With the transfer window still open, supporters will be watching to see if new faces arrive, but Rodgers has made it clear the squad is ready to compete either way.
