“100% It Won’t Be Me” – Rodgers Dismisses Distraction Talk Over Celtic Future

Brendan Rodgers has dismissed concerns that speculation around his Celtic future could become a distraction this season, insisting he remains fully focused on the job at hand and is committed to driving the club forward.

With Rodgers entering the final year of his contract and no extension yet on the table, there has been increased attention on what lies ahead.

The manager has confirmed that he has held talks regarding a new contract over the summer months, but has not been formally offered a new deal by Celtic’s decision makers.

However, the Hoops boss made it clear that he won’t allow the ongoing narrative to interfere with preparations or performance.

Asked whether the continued questions over his deal could prove disruptive if the situation drags on, Rodgers told CeltsAreHere: “Well, it depends who it disrupts. It certainly won’t be the players. It won’t be the staff. And 100% it won’t be me because I give everything here. It’s the reason I came back. I didn’t have to but I wanted to and I want to continue with that.

“So I don’t feel it will disrupt. Of course I know in your world there’s lots of speculation around it and that’s why I said, being honest and being clear with you, where it sits right at this very day. But it’s not going to distract.

“The focus is very much focused in on the team and improving the squad and like I said, that ambition for Celtic to be the best is all I’m concentrating on. So no, I don’t think it will be a disruption at all.”

Rodgers enters the new campaign aiming to build on last season’s domestic success while navigating Champions League qualifiers for the first time since returning to the club.

Celtic have just over two weeks until Brendan Rodgers attempts to take Celtic into the Champions League through the two-legged match. The Hoops will find out who they will face on Monday when the draw is made.

There is hope that there will be a few additions in the door before then.
