Rodgers Begins Celtic Clear Out Process

BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed he’s already spoken to players who he believes are surplus to requirements at the club and let them know they can move on.

The Irishman has had time to asses his squad and made it known that he has had some difficult conversations with players he just doesn’t see making the cut at Celtic.

There are a number of squad players still officially on the books at Celtic, such as; Ismaila Soro, Albian Ajeti, Osaze Urhoghide and James McCarthy to name a few.

“I’ve already spoken to a couple of players and I’m sure I will do over the course of pre-season.” Rodgers told Glasgow Live.

“You have to be honest with players. Even if it’s a tough conversation, it’s the most humane way and the most direct way to tell them the plan. If that’s to move on and get playing football, then that’s what they have to do.

“Those conversations have already started, but it will continue over the next few weeks.”

Celtic kick off their title defence in less than three weeks time, and Brendan will already have an idea in his head who will be starters and who will not make the grade.

It’s imperative we get these guys moved on as fast as possible; it frees up wages and allows us to be a bit more agile in the transfer market.

Celtic kick off their title defence against Ross County on August 5, where the Hoops will raise the league flag before kick-off.
