BRENDAN RODGERS has hit back at some of the criticism his striker Leigh Griffiths has been receiving since pulling out of the Scotland squad last week.
Leigh felt he needed to get back to his best in training and felt that goal would be better served at Lennoxtown away from the Scotland setup.
This lead to many criticising the century striker, many demanding he not be called up to the Scotland squad again and took issue with him seemingly ‘picking and choosing’ when he played for his country.
The Celtic manager has had no problem with the decision – he knows how hard Leigh has been working and how vital it is to be in the correct condition to be at your best.
🗣 BR: “Leigh Griffiths made the right decision. If you want to play for Scotland and a club like Celtic you have to be physically right. He wants to do himself justice on the field.” #CELHIB

There’s always going to be people who try to be negative. The fact is, Leigh has made a choice which will see him kick on from here and hopefully be at his best.
His fitness was called into question so he’s doing something about it. That’s the mark of a good professional.
