Brendan Rodgers has shut down any suggestion that Reo Hatate could be on the way out of Celtic, insisting there has been no approach for the Japanese midfielder.

Hatate was on the scoresheet in the Granite City, capping off a composed Celtic display with a sharp finish. The 27-year-old’s vision and ability to unlock defences have made him a standout since arriving in Glasgow, and Rodgers was quick to underline his importance to the team.
Transfer rumours have surfaced in recent months linking Hatate with interest from abroad, but Rodgers stated in no uncertain terms that nothing concrete has landed at the club. His comments suggest the midfielder remains firmly in his plans as the season gathers pace.
The victory at Pittodrie kept Celtic perfect after two games and four points clear at the top of Rangers, with Rodgers determined to strengthen further before the transfer window closes.
He said: (TCW), “We’re trying to get players in, never mind letting them go. We haven’t had any interest in players like Reo.
“He is one of the few midfielders who can make those incisive passes. He’ll give the ball away at times, which is the risk in his game, but then he produces a moment like that, which was a brilliant finish.
“We want to build the squad, and while there are lots of areas I’m pleased with, there are others we will focus on to improve.”
Rodgers’ comments leave little room for speculation, Hatate is a central part of his plans, and there is no appetite within the club to cash in on him. The midfielder’s technical qualities and eye for a decisive pass were on full display against Aberdeen, where he turned the match firmly in Celtic’s favour.

By stressing the desire to add rather than subtract from his squad, Rodgers has also sent a message to supporters that the club intends to come out of this window stronger.
Hatate’s role in Celtic’s attacking play makes him difficult to replace, and with the Champions League group stage looming, Rodgers will want his best creative outlets available.
The manager’s focus will now shift to securing reinforcements that can match the quality of players like Hatate, as Celtic look to maintain their early advantage at the top of the table ahead of Rangers.
