Celtic youngster Rocco Vata scored his first goal for the club in Sunday’s dominative 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle. It was a special moment for the Irishman who was given a rare first-team opportunity by Brendan Rodgers.
It is fair to say Vata grasped said chance with both hands. Up top, he looked powerful, pacey, and full of hunger. He couldn’t miss when Mikey Johnston flashed across the goal for him to tap in from close range.

In the game against Buckie, Vata put a wealth of speculation regarding his future to one side. Going into the match, there had been contrasting reports over whether he would pen a new deal at Celtic or depart for Italy, but he certainly strengthened the will among the supporters for the former with his performance.
His current deal at the club expires this summer, and it remains to be seen whether the teenager will sign on and look to truly kickstart his senior career or depart in search of a fresh opportunity.
