Richard Foster Makes Peter Lawwell Running SFA Quip

Richard Foster made a joke on BBC Sportsound on Friday surrounding Peter Lawwell — well we think it was a joke.

Speaking about the outgoing Celtic Chief Executive — the former Gers man revealed now Peter can focus on his job of running the SFA.

He did claim it was a joke but there could be a shred of hard feelings there because it’s something the other side have claimed for years out of paranoia.

When Celtic got a positive result from a disciplinary meeting or our rivals were fined, a contingent of their fan base would claim Peter was behind it all — pulling the strings.

Of course, it’s partisan nonsense at its best but the fact Foster has come out and said it on national radio leads me to believe he’s been in the company of people who believe there’s some truth to it.

He told BBC Sportsound: “I just think he’s probably got time to get on with his real job which is running the SFA as well.

There would have been some nodding their head when he made the joke.

“Whether it was decided before or not, it is quite a significant change.

“Joking aside, he’s obviously done a lot for Neil Lennon personally but a lot for Celtic in the success they have had in bringing players to the club and negotiating contracts.

“It is quite a big thing. Me, as a player, I don’t deal with CEOs so it won’t impact the players.

“I would imagine the players there will have a decent enough relationship with him but in terms of on the pitch, it won’t impact the team too much.”
