Revealed: UEFA Pick Celtic Star as Standout From Stalemate in Croatia

Not many players go from scoring an own goal in the Champions League to being named Man of the Match in the next, but that’s exactly what Cameron Carter-Vickers did for Celtic this evening.

Carter-Vickers, who often doesn’t get the recognition for his performances due to how consistent he is, with attackers often winning Man of the Match, but that wasn’t the case in Zagreb, with yet another defensive masterclass from the USA international.

It’s no less than he deserves, and considering just how much of a freak own goal it was for Carter-Vickers against Club Brugge last time out, he deserved to show Europe exactly what he does for Celtic week in, week out in Scotland.

In his time at Celtic, he has consistently been the heart of the defence, and in his absence on Saturday against Hibernian, it was clear to see just how open the Hoops’ defense was without him.

Carter-Vickers’ Celtic legacy is ever-growing, and if he continues to perform on the European stage, he will stand alongside some of the Bhoys’ greatest centre-backs.
