As the league stage nears its conclusion, the Hoops have already amassed close to €40 million in prize money, marking a significant boost to the club’s revenue stream. And that figure doesn’t even include additional income from sponsorship deals or ticket sales.

A Breakdown of Celtic’s Champions League Earnings

1. Starting Bonus – €18.62m
Celtic earned a guaranteed €18.62 million simply for qualifying for the Champions League group stages.

2. Market Pool and 5-Year Coefficient Rankings – €9.35m
A further €9.35 million was accrued through a combination of Celtic’s share of the market pool and their standing in the UEFA coefficient rankings. The market pool represents the distribution of broadcasting revenue, while the coefficient ranking reflects the club’s standing based on European performances.

3. 10-Year Coefficient – €4.15m
Due to their historical performance in European competitions over the past 10 years, Celtic received an additional €4.15 million.

4. Points Earned – €6.3m
Celtic’s results in the group stage have earned them €6.3 million from points accumulated so far. The Hoops currently sit on nine points after six matchdays, with two crucial games still to play. Each win in the Champions League is worth €2.1 million, while a draw brings in €700,000.

5. Minimum Placement Bonus – €1.45m
Celtic will receive a minimum placement bonus of €1.45 million, which can rise depending on where the side finishes in the league.

When you add it all up, Celtic’s Champions League campaign has already generated close to €40 million!

With Celtic sitting on nine points, a win in their next fixture against Young Boys at Parkhead would almost certainly guarantee progression to the Champions League knockout stages for the Round of 16.
