Media reports this evening suggest Celtic are in ‘advanced’ talks with Manchester City over the transfer of Patrick Roberts.
CELTIC who has made no secret about wanting to keep the talented midfielder at Celtic have so far been met with resistance in their attempts to sign him permanently. However, a willingness from the player seems to be driving the negotiations through the stalemate.
The Mirror reports that the final fee for the Englishman is the sticking point with Celtic willing to pay an initial £5million with adding further down the line. Manchester City would like more upfront for the player they signed from Fulham.
Patrick has been a revelation since pulling on a Celtic jersey and has become a fan favourite among the Hoops faithful. He took to twitter just last week thanking the support and left the door open for a return should one materialise.
This is the deal most Celtic fans want to see over the line before the Champions League qualifiers begin in July. If Celtic do manage to sign Paddy permanently it will be laying down a massive marker.
We are all holding our breath.
