Reports: One in, Two Out in Celtic Reboot

It’s being reported today Celtic are in talks with Fergal Harkin of Manchester City about the newly created Sporting Director role at the club.

Time is really of the essence and the Hoops must get on with appointing the main players in Celtic’s summer rebuild.

Football insider claim Harkin is being interviewed, while CeltsAreHere have been told by a source at the club also that the Irishman is in the mix for the role. We also understand an announcement over the Sporting Director is close and will likely come before the manager.

The bhoys are a ship without a captain at present.

John Kennedy is in interim charge but nobody can really find an argument for John being given the role on a permanent basis.

If a Sporting Director comes in, you then have a scenario where any manager interested in becoming the next Celtic gaffer knows exactly what they’re walking into if they take on the role.

One thing FI did report which we’ve not heard anything about is the likely departure of Nicky Hammond and Garry Penrice.

Hammond has had to try and overhaul the mess left by Lee Congerton and he brought in Penrice as his head scout. It looks like it could be one in, two out with regards to club staff.
