REPORTS from down south suggest that Manchester City are open to the potential of Patrick Roberts being part of any swap deal this summer between themselves and Leicester.
The EPL Champions in waiting tried to sign Leicester star Riyad Mahrez in the January window but couldn’t agree on a fee with The Foxes.
It was reported at the time that Leicester wanted money plus Patrick Roberts to let Mahrez move to the Etihad – this wasn’t possible as there is no get out clause in the players Celtic deal. They then looked at other player options but none Man City were happy to part with.
It’s believed that once Patrick Roberts returns to Manchester City, the club will pursue a swap deal with Leicester in the summer.
Celtic fans would be very disappointed to see the player go but most know Celtic were lucky to get him for a second season, with the player’s insistence he heads back to Celtic.
Unless Patrick shows the same persistence this summer, it could be curtains for his Celtic career. Although there’s a small matter of a double treble to win with the midfielder due back from injury next month.
