Reports: Celtic Remain Interested In Long-Time EPL Target

Celtic reportedly remain interested in long-time target and Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, the Irishman’s contract at the English Premier League side comes to an end this summer and despite being open to staying another year there, interest from Celtic and also clubs such as Newcastle are already growing.

The 30-year old has been heavily linked with the club for a couple of seasons now, especially with his links as a fan.

At one stage, a player of McCarthy’s quality who has spent many years now in a league like the EPL with the likes of Everton and Crystal Palace would be an ideal signing.

However, with the age, he is currently at and the injury problems he has had it feels like the sort of deal we should be moving on from now.

We should be looking into bringing younger, more talented players in, to develop and better our side before even having the sell-on value for the club to make good money back and reinvest, rather than players who may be approaching the end of their careers soon.
