Reports: Celtic eye move for highly rated defender

Celtic are reportedly interested in highly-rated Preston North-End central defender, Ben Davies.

According to journalist, Peter O’Rourke, Davies who is entering the final year of his contract at the English Championship club, is thought to be a target who Neil Lennon has taken an interest in.

Speaking about the prospect of Davies making the move up north, many Preston fans seem gutted at the thought of it happening, due to the quality of the 25-year old defender.

It is thought that he is a modern day, ball playing central defender, who is very calm and composed on the ball, and is good in the air.

The club have been on the hunt for a defender this window, after the departure of Jozo Simunovic and the interest may have ramped up due to the recent reports of Kristoffer Ajer wanting a move away from Scotland.

This looks like it could be another sensible pick-up by the club. Davies is rated highly by many down south and a player of his age could have the potential to be a main stay at the club for years to come.
