Considering Starfelt’s eagerness to test himself in one of the world’s top five leagues, this figure could be viewed as a fair outcome for Celtic. Given Starfelt’s resolve to move his career on, coupled with his partner Jacynta’s recent switch to Sporting Lisbon, retaining the Swedish centre-half may have posed a significant challenge for the Scottish champions. The deal allows Celtic to capitalise on a player keen to depart, whilst paving the way for new talent.

However, there could be an argument that the rumoured €5 million fee doesn’t reflect Starfelt’s substantial contribution to Celtic over the past two seasons.
