Reported Celtic target Ko Itakura helped his international side, Japan, to an opening group stage victory in the Olympics against South Africa.
This year’s hosts got off to a good start picking up three points in the first game in a group that also consists of France and Mexico.
Itakura played the entire 90 minutes and helped his side keep a clean sheet.

The central defender is currently at Manchester City but spent last season in the Dutch Eredivisie with Groningen playing 36 times for his loan side.
Ange Postecoglou has recently been linked with a move for the 24-year old defender as he looks to bolster his defensive options going into the new season.
Both Celtic and the 55-year old manager have their links to the English Premier League giants in the past, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see this loan move come off.
On Tuesday night, it was evidently clear that we are in desperate need of more options at the back. Unfortunately, though, it looks like we will need to wait if we want to bring Itakura to the club due to his involvement in the Olympics.
