Celtic fans were already delighted by the confirmation on Tuesday that Tierney had agreed to rejoin his boyhood club in the summer, but news of a potential earlier arrival has further lifted spirits. The left-back remains a fan favourite at Parkhead, having come through the club’s academy and played a key role in Celtic’s domestic dominance before his £25m move to Arsenal in 2019.
Bringing Tierney in on loan now would provide Brendan Rodgers with an immediate boost as the Hoops continue to chase domestic and European success.
Celtic’s hands are tied until Arsenal make a decision.
Should the move fail to materialise, Celtic will look to rely on Greg Taylor for their domestic push, while continuing their search for further reinforcements in other areas. For now, the Hoops are playing the waiting game as they hope for an early return for one of their prodigal sons.
