Celtic look set to have sealed a dramatic deadline-day signing after Tunisian journalist Mahdi Abid reported that Swedish side Hammarby have accepted the club’s latest offer for winger Sebastian Tounekti. However, Abid does not reveal the amount.
It marks a rapid escalation in talks after Tounekti himself had suggested that Celtic would “go all the way” to try and bring him in before the window shut.
Tounekti, who came through at Tromsø before moving to Sweden, has been on Celtic’s radar throughout the summer as Brendan Rodgers searched for fresh options in wide areas. His pace and ability to operate across the frontline have made him a standout in the Allsvenskan, where his performances for Hammarby earned attention beyond Scandinavia.

Celtic’s move for the Tunisian international comes in a frantic final 24 hours of business, with Rodgers intent on adding attacking depth before the registration deadline. Tounekti’s impending medical in London signals the club’s determination to get the deal wrapped up despite the late hour.
Should everything proceed as planned, the winger will become the latest addition to Rodgers’ squad, adding a new dimension to Celtic’s forward line as the Hoops look ahead to the demands of domestic and European football in the months to come.
