The 19-year-old centre-half has spent the past few weeks training with Neil Lennon’s side and has featured regularly throughout their pre-season schedule.

After being involved in every friendly fixture so far, the Championship side are now expected to finalise a deal for the defender ahead of the new campaign.

Davidson’s contract with Celtic came to an end this summer, with the three-year deal he signed back in 2022 running its course.

He turned out ten times for the Hoops’ B team last season, gaining experience in the Lowland League and the UEFA Youth League. A product of Celtic’s academy system, the teenager is now set to take his first steps into senior football, with Dunfermline keen to add depth at the back.

Speaking after the Pars’ 3-1 friendly win over Kelty Hearts, Lennon confirmed the club are in active talks with Davidson’s representatives and are hopeful of concluding the deal soon. The move would offer the young defender a fresh platform to develop under a manager who has already shown faith in his potential.

Dunfermline are gearing up for a competitive return this weekend, travelling to Tynecastle to face Hearts as the group stages of the Premier Sports Cup get underway.

Whether Davidson is registered in time to be involved remains unclear, but his presence throughout pre-season suggests he’s already making an impression within the squad.

Lennon has also hinted that more new faces are likely to arrive at East End Park in the coming weeks as the club looks to strengthen further ahead of the Championship campaign. Davidson could be the first of several signings to bolster the squad.
