Just six months after his £10 million switch from Celtic to Rennes, Kyogo Furuhashi may be set for another change of scenery.
Reports in France suggest Rennes have held “positive” discussions with Premier League side Brentford over a potential summer transfer for the Japanese striker. According to La Parisien, the Ligue 1 side are now open to letting Kyogo go, having seen him fall out of favour under head coach Habib Beye.

Kyogo, who was a talismanic figure at Celtic Park, has endured a frustrating spell in France, struggling for consistent minutes and impact. Despite arriving with high expectations following a prolific spell in Glasgow, he’s now being linked with a return to the UK, with the Premier League a likely destination.
Kyogo’s movement, sharp finishing, and work rate made him a standout in the Scottish Premiership, and it appears those qualities haven’t gone unnoticed in England.
During his time at Celtic, Kyogo racked up an impressive tally of goals, becoming a key player in Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers’ forward line.
His departure in January came as a surprise to many, but the Hoops have moved on with the likes of Adam Idah and Daizen Maeda leading the line in his absence.
It remains to be seen whether a deal will be completed, but should Kyogo make the move to Brentford, it would mark another chapter in what’s been a rapid and unpredictable career trajectory since leaving the Hoops.
