Celtic loanee defender Nat Phillips is set to be recalled by his parent club, according to prominent Liverpool fan media site This Is Anfield. Such a happening would put to end to what has been a difficult few months for the Englishman.
While the report does say recall, Nat’s deal only ran to January, so in this instance, the defender’s deal will not be extended.
In Glasgow, Phillips has failed to make a notable impact. Fans’ comparisons between the 26-year-old and Shane Duffy are damning and show the poor extent of his time at the club.

Particularly at the weekend against Kilmarnock, Phillips was hugely underwhelming in his performance. He was bullied by Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins and converted into his own net to level things up in the second half. It was only his fourth start for the club but in all of his cameos, he has failed to capture the imagination.
Phillips’ loan signing was a stop-gap amid defensive woes in the summer but now, those are no more. CeltsAreHere exclusively revealed there would be talks in January regarding the future of the player, although, for both parties, it seems as though an immediate end to Phillips’ forgettable spell is the best outcome. That is what looks to be happening.
