Celtic’s pursuit of Michel-Ange Balikwisha has reportedly hit a stumbling block, with Belgian outlet Voetbal Primeur reporting that negotiations have stalled over Royal Antwerp’s £5.1 million asking price.
The 24-year-old winger has been linked with a summer move to Glasgow, and Belgian media suggest the player is keen on the switch. However, Voetbal Primeur claim talks between the two clubs have stalled with Celtic said to be unwilling to meet Antwerp’s current valuation.

Balikwisha has been on Celtic’s radar since last year, when interest was first shown but the move failed to materialise due to the player’s fitness issues. Now fully fit and reportedly eager to make a step up, the Belgian international remains a target as Brendan Rodgers looks to add depth and quality out wide.
Antwerp, for their part, are standing firm on their price tag despite the winger entering the final year of his contract. The Belgian side are aware of growing interest but are holding out for what they see as a fair return, having developed the player into one of their key attacking options.
The report suggests the valuation is currently proving too steep for Celtic, with discussions hitting a dead end unless either side shows willingness to compromise.

With Champions League qualifiers approaching, Celtic are expected to keep working on alternative options, though they haven’t yet walked away from the Balikwisha deal entirely.
Rodgers is keen to inject more pace and goal threat into his forward line, and Balikwisha ticks several boxes. But unless Antwerp adjust their demands or Celtic restructure the offer, progress on this front remains in limbo.
