Guardian Sports writer Ed Aarons is claiming Patrick Viera is targeting Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard as the journalist talks up the French connection at Crystal Palace.

Arsenal legend Patrick Viera has taken over from Roy Hodgson at Palace and is going about assembling his side for next season.

The London club are looking for a striker and have contacted Arsenal about a potential move for one of their younger stars.

However, Aarons believes Edouard is in the transfer conversation and Edouard is known to both Viera and Palace’s new development coach.

Could a French connection and the lure of EPL wages be enough for Edouard to leave Celtic.

There’s no doubt the player has all the attributes to be a top striker. Career wise, Crystal Palace would be a step backwards, but is it a move Eddy has to make to show his worth in the EPL to win a better move.

Playing for a club at the lower end of the table means his chances will be at a premium and the player will be pinned back with the rest of his teammates.
