Report: Edouard Clause Set to Cost Celtic Millions

Edouard was subject of a bid from Leicester City earlier this month, but negotiations fell through after a deal could not be agreed upon.

The Daily Record is reporting that Brendan Rodgers did not have the funds to bring the Frenchman to the Midlands despite still admiring the attacker. [RecordSport]

The report also states that 50% of any fee received will go straight to Paris Saint-Germain – not 50% of a profit made.

This will only increase Eddy’s price tag even further. Celtic will want to make a profit on the original fee spent on him which was estimated to be £9 million. Therefore, Celtic would have to sell the striker for over £18 million, this will be a challenge considering that the 23-year-old is in the last 12 months of his contract and the financial implications caused by covid.

After joining in 2017/18 he has had a remarkable four seasons in Glasgow, bringing many memories to the fans but it was accepted near the beginning of his Celtic career that Odsonne would go on to bigger and better things.

There is no doubt that losing Edouard on a free will be a huge blow, but is it worth letting him go and making a loss when we could keep him for another season?
