Report: Celtic’s Kwon End Game

Over the past few transfer windows, Celtic have signed a fair amount of players whom it simply hasn’t worked out for in Glasgow. Kwon Hyeok-kyu is one of those.

Brought in from Busan IPark a few months ago, the South Korean midfielder has failed to register a single first-team appearance to date. He has been included in a few matchday squads but has yet to take to the field competitively in green and white.

At Celtic, Kwon still has four and a half years remaining on his deal, but he could leave the club temporarily this month. According to the Daily Mail, a loan move back to South Korea is likely for the imposing midfielder this January.

Similar to many of his teammates, Kwon is surplus to requirements at Celtic at the minute. Such a fact is evident given his lack of minutes at the club so far.

A loan move away suits all parties; it allows for the player to gain some valuable minutes whilst also letting the club free up the wage bill, and a berth in the team, amid some expected arrivals of quality later this month.
