Fresh doubts have been cast over Celtic’s move for Jakob Breum, with reliable journalist Stephen McGowan insisting there have been no recent discussions with Go Ahead Eagles.
McGowan states that the last contact between the two clubs came back in July, and there have been no new approaches since.
Go Ahead still want around £6million for Breum, and that figure could rise if Celtic make it through to the Champions League. Brendan Rodgers’ side travel to Kazakhstan next week to face Kairat Almaty, after the first leg at Celtic Park ended 0-0 in the play-off.
The stalemate keeps the tie wide open, and the money on offer for reaching the group stage will be a big factor in what Celtic can do in the transfer market.
During the midweek game, anger from the stands was clear as chants of “Sack the Board” rang out. Supporters want more signings, with Breum heavily linked, but so far progress has been slow.

McGowan’s report shows there has been no movement on the deal. Go Ahead are under no pressure to sell and remain fixed on their asking price. Unless Celtic improve their bid, the deal will stay stuck.
Attention now turns to the return match in Kazakhstan, a game that could define Celtic’s season. The result will not only decide their Champions League hopes but may also influence whether they go back in for Breum.
