Celtic’s Champions League prize money this season so far has reportedly been revealed, with the Hoops already sealing a substantial amount.
With Celtic in the Champions League, Rangers in the Europa League, and Hearts in the Europa Conference League, three Premiership sides have benefited from qualifying for each of UEFA’s competitions. However, Kilmarnock and St Mirren have also received payments for their participation in earlier qualifying rounds.
The #SPFL has been awarded €73,916,000 so far in UEFA Prize Money in 2024-25
• Celtic – €45,607,000
• Rangers – €14,164,000
• Hearts – €5,958,000
• Kilmarnock – €1,943,111 (inc SP)
• St Mirren – €1,568,111 (inc SP)
• Solidarity Payment (7 clubs) €4,676,778— Inside The SPFL (@AgentScotland) January 25, 2025
It’s interesting to see how much has also been given to the rest of the Scottish Premiership, with €4,676,778 shared between the seven other clubs, an average of €668,054 each.
However, the comparison between Celtic securing Champions League football and Rangers dropping out in the third qualifying round 3-1 on aggregate at Hampden against Dinamo Kyiv, then dropping into the Europa League, highlights the financial disparity.
It’s clear to see why there appears to be a contrast in willingness to sign players this month.
With the Hoops already boasting strong financial balance sheets in recent years, the club is in a position where the transfer model is continuing to adapt due to consistent success in selling players for significant profit and Champions League qualification over the last three seasons, with a knockout playoff place confirmed on Wednesday night.

Celtic could add another €2,100,000 with a win on Wednesday night against Aston Villa at Villa Park, or even €700,000 for a draw.
Given the lack of finances in Scotland compared to other teams in the Champions League, with the Hoops receiving a reported £4.272 million for winning the Scottish Premiership last season, it’s clear to see how much success in Europe can benefit Celtic financially compared to other teams in the Scottish Premiership.
