Celtic’s expected windfall from Oh Hyeon-gyu’s transfer has been thrown into doubt after journalist Sacha Tavolieri confirmed the striker’s move to VfB Stuttgart is off.
However, Stuttgart reportedly raised concerns during the medical examination and attempted to renegotiate terms.
Genk refused to adjust the agreement, leading to the collapse of the transfer and leaving Oh’s future uncertain with just hours remaining in the window. The 24-year-old will now remain in Belgium unless a late solution emerges.
For Celtic, it’s a frustrating twist after hopes of banking more than £4 million from the deal.

That potential windfall had been seen as a timely boost to Brendan Rodgers’ budget in the final stretch of the window, but the collapse means the club will have to continue operating without the expected cash injection.
Oh’s time in Glasgow may have been short-lived, but his departure had looked set to benefit Celtic financially. With Stuttgart now walking away, the Hoops’ attention remains fixed on their own late business rather than cashing in from their former striker’s next move.
