Report: Celtic Transfer Target ‘Travelling’ for Hoops Medical

Celtic’s deadline-day push for Sebastian Tounekti is moving rapidly, with journalist Anthony Joseph reporting the winger is travelling to Scotland to finalise his switch from Hammarby IF.

The deal, worth around £5.2 million, was agreed earlier today after Celtic’s bid was finally accepted following a series of rejected offers.

Tounekti, who has been a standout performer in Sweden’s Allsvenskan, is now en route to complete his medical and sign a four-year contract at Parkhead.

The 23-year-old Tunisia international has been tracked by Brendan Rodgers throughout the summer, with the Celtic manager keen to add pace and creativity to his wide options. With Nicolas Kühn’s departure and ongoing uncertainty on the flanks, Tounekti’s arrival is viewed as a vital piece of business before the transfer window slams shut.

Hammarby had resisted Celtic’s approaches earlier in the window, holding out for improved terms, but with the player keen on the move and time running down, the Swedish club have now sanctioned his departure.

Tounekti’s imminent arrival underlines Celtic’s determination to strengthen late in the market after setbacks elsewhere, including missing out on Kasper Dolberg and losing Adam Idah to Swansea City.

Rodgers has been clear in his need for attacking reinforcements, and the Tunisian winger’s versatility across the frontline provides him with another option ahead of a demanding campaign.

Celtic supporters will now be eagerly awaiting confirmation of the signing before tonight’s deadline, with Tounekti set to become one of the headline arrivals of the summer window.
