Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Japanese left-back Keita Kosugi from Djurgardens. The 19-year-old has been in Sweden since 2024 and has impressed with his performances in both the Swedish League and the Conference League. [Sponichi Soccer]
After arriving from Shonan Bellmare without making a senior appearance in Japan, Kosugi began his time in Sweden as a back-up. But when Samuel Dahl made a move to Roma, Kosugi stepped into the starting role and hasn’t looked back. His strong form helped Djurgardens reach the semi-finals of the Conference League, where they were beaten by Chelsea.

Celtic are expected to strengthen at left-back this summer. Greg Taylor is out of contract and has not agreed to extend his stay at the Bhoys. With that situation unresolved, the Hoops are looking at options to fill the gap.
Kieran Tierney is set to make a return to Celtic on a free transfer, giving the squad a boost in that area. However, with a long season ahead and no guarantee of consistent fitness, more depth is needed.
Jeffrey Schlupp, who joined on loan from Crystal Palace, filled in on the left side of defence during his time at the Hoops. Celtic have been in discussions over a permanent move, with his contract at Palace coming to an end. However, no agreement has been reached, and the club are continuing to assess their options.

Kosugi, who has represented Japan at U17, U19, and U20 levels, has caught the eye of several top clubs, including PSG and Atalanta. His energy and ability on the ball make him a standout in both attack and defence.
With the left-back position up in the air, Celtic’s interest in Kosugi signals forward planning as they prepare for next season.
