Celtic star Callum McGregor is reportedly set to commit his future to the club as he is in line to become the successor to Scott Brown as club captain.
According to Football Insider, the 27-year could be set to remain at Celtic for the rest of his career even despite interest in the past from the likes of Leicester City who won’t have gone away, outlining himself as the next natural captain of the club.
This season, we have seen Brown drop out of a lot of games with McGregor filling in as captain. He has also done a lot more press duties this year, whether that be pre or post-match.
In a way, it feels like he could be getting prepared for the role and he certainly feels like the correct man to take that armband if he is willing to stay for years to come.
As a product of the Celtic academy, it would be a brilliant achievement to see him become captain and he has been on an incredible rise in the last few years.
There will be no better man to learn his stuff off of than Brown himself, it just feels like it’s a matter of time at this stage.
