The English League One side are keen to bring in attacking reinforcements ahead of the new campaign, but their initial proposal, understood to be close to £500,000, has been turned down.

The Hoops are standing firm, aware of growing interest and determined to maximise any potential fee for the 22-year-old.

Kenny, who has been capped at youth level for Ireland, has been on the books at Celtic since his switch from Sligo Rovers in 2022. He started off with the B team and has since gone on to make eight first-team appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old has spent time out on loan to aid his development, most recently enjoying a prolific spell with Shamrock Rovers. During his time back in the League of Ireland, he netted 20 goals in 39 appearances, form that has clearly caught the eye south of the border.

Bolton, under Steven Schumacher, are aiming to improve on last season’s near-miss in the play-off race. They view Kenny as a player who could add a clinical edge to their forward line, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll meet Celtic’s asking price.
