Celtic have been linked with a move for Le Havre defender Etienne Youte as the Frenchman weighs up his next career step.

Media outlets in France say the Scottish champions are keeping tabs on the centre-back, joining the likes of Anderlecht and Besiktas in tracking his situation. With his contract entering its final year, Le Havre face a decision over whether to sell now or risk losing him for free next summer.
The French side are believed to be open to offers in the region of €5million (£4.3million), a figure that could tempt suitors into making a bid before the window closes. That valuation would also give Le Havre a healthy return on a player who has become a key figure in their backline.
So far, no approach has been made from the Hoops. Brendan Rodgers has already indicated that additions to his squad are unlikely before Celtic’s next fixture against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup.
He said: (Paris Normadie), “I know now that I have to be patient before making a decision. For the moment, I’m here and I feel good within this group. I’m preparing for the season.
“If there are interesting offers for me and for the club, we will find an agreement together.”
Youte’s admission leaves the door wide open for Celtic should they choose to make their interest concrete. The Hoops have been linked with defensive reinforcements throughout the summer, with Rodgers keen to add depth ahead of a demanding domestic and European schedule.

While the player is content to remain in France for now, his willingness to consider offers suggests a deal could move quickly if Celtic decide to act. Timing, however, may be a factor, with the window ticking on and Le Havre preparing for their own campaign.
The price tag may also play a part in determining Celtic’s stance. A move at that figure would represent a significant outlay, potentially limiting other targets in the same window.
For now, the ball remains firmly in Celtic’s court. If Rodgers and the recruitment team believe Youte fits the bill, the Frenchman has already signalled he is ready to listen.
