Celtic have reportedly opened talks with first-team coach Gavin Strachan over a potential extension of his current contract at Parkhead as part of Ange Postecoglou’s backroom staff.
The Englishman, who has had several spells coaching down south at the likes of Peterborough and Doncaster Rovers, was brought to Glasgow to replace Damien Duff at the beginning of last campaign.
It wasn’t the best of starts to Strachan’s time with the club, though, as the Hoops suffered an extremely disappointing season.
However, he remained part of the coaching staff under new boss Ange Postecoglou and has played his part in the brilliant turnaround, which now sees this Celtic side six points clear at the top, with six games to play.
According to a report from Football Insider, the club have opened talks about extending Strachan’s stay in Glasgow as Postecoglou and his coaching staff look to continue their work on improving the side.
Despite much being discussed about the future of John Kennedy and Strachan at the beginning of the season, with suggestions that Ange might look to bring his own staff in, both have clearly played their part in the turnaround.
Of course, the credit will go to Ange for his efforts in turning things around, and rightfully so with the incredible job he has done .
But having faced the criticism, they must also be praised for the role played behind the scenes.
Strachan must be doing something right, with the club also looking to keep him around and extend his stay.
