Report: Celtic Open Negotiations Over £2.5m Striker

CELTIC have been linked with another striker on Tuesday afternoon.

Duncan Castles of the Transfer Window podcast has told RecordSport he believes the club are looking at a deal for Georgios Giakoumakis.

The Greek striker was relegated from Eredivisie last season but remarkably scored 26 goals in 30 league games for VVV-Venlo – he was the top goalscorer in the Dutch top flight.

Now in the second tier of Dutch football, the standout striker could be on the move.

Castles reports that the club have already opened negotiations with Venlo over the transfer of their star striker.

This would suggest the club are expecting a move for Odsonne Edouard before the window closes. At present – Celtic have four strikers filling one position; Edouard, Furuhashi, Ajeti and Griffiths.

We can’t see the club putting more money down for another striker unless they’re confident one of the aforementioned frontmen are heading for the Parkhead exit.

Duncan also claims the club could land the forward for around £2.5million.

The Greek connection could be coming into play for Age Postecoglou who was born in Greece but moved to Australia in his younger years.

Having another prolific goalscorer on the books couldn’t hurt.
